Picking Your Viewing Source
Watching your Super8, 8mm & 16mm Videos using a projector is outdated & is not practical. The best method to be able to view your Super8, 8mm & 16mm film is to have it converted to digital. Once you go digital, you can use your video files anyway you want.
The most current method to view your old Super8, 8mm & 16mm movie film is to convert it to digital & save it as a video file, preferably a Mp4 video file. Video File format is the most versatile, you can view it on your computer, edit the video files and create your own discs. Having your Super8, 8mm & 16mm movie film put onto a DVD or Blu-Ray disc is great if you want to watch the videos on your TV. Younger generations would prefer to have their Super8, 8mm & 16mm saved as a video file because they can edit the footage using their computer. Older generations would prefer DVD's or Blu-Ray's because of the convenience and their unfamiliarity with editing video files.
If you are going to have your Super8, 8mm & 16mm movie film converted to digital, you need to decide what is the best output for YOU. If you have no idea how to edit video files and have zero interest in doing so, stick with having a disc created. However, if you have friends or family who might want a copy of newly converted Super8m 8mm or 16mm movie film, find out if they would prefer a video file format. Once a video file is saved to a DVD, it is compressed as an MP2 video file. Mp2 video files are a lower quality than an Mp4 file, so if you try & extract the file off the DVD, it will be lower quality than the original digital conversion.
Some advantages to having your super8, 8mm & 16mm movie film converted to a digital video file is that you can take clips of video and post it online to social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, BlogSpot...etc. Video files can also be viewed on smart phones and tablets. This way your videos can be with you everywhere and anywhere.
You can convert your movie film to a format that is best suited for your needs.
